"Gold Standard" Canvas Art by IKONICK.
Ever wonder how Benjamin Franklin earned his spot on the $100 bill?
He was never a U.S. president. In fact, he was 70 years old before America even became an independent country. But he had big ideas about money.
During America's colonial days, currency was in coin form and the only source was the Royal Mint in London. That meant the British controlled all of it.
So, Franklin came up with an idea to ease the scarcity: Paper money. He would print notes that could be used in place of hard currency, and then once more coins were minted, the notes could be exchanged for them.
There needed to be an established, gold-based standard exchange rate of coins for the paper to be useful at all. And his system worked ... until the treasury printed so many of the paper notes that they could no longer back them up with gold. Then their value dropped again.
The lesson learned: The value of something depends only on its ability to be exchanged. If you have a note for $100 worth of gold, but the bank can’t exchange it, you have a worthless piece of paper. If you have a business based on partnerships, but no one wants to collaborate with you, you've got nothing.
Whether it is an idea for an app, a plan to take a side hustle full-time, or a goal to simply make more money, it is only worth something once it's worth something. In other words, an idea has the same value as Franklin's first paper notes: Nothing—until someone wants it. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay.
Keep that in mind in your life and always be thinking three steps ahead. Don't leave your goals simply as goals; think about where you want them to lead. What do you want to be able to exchange them for?
"Gold Standard" original canvas wall artwork from IKONICK shows the true value of money. A $100 bill is just paper when it comes down to it. It is the gold that it's worth that will last forever. Hang this piece where you'll see it often and always keep that true value in mind.
Purchased my art piece, delivery was to Canada, so by the time it arrived there was a small scratch/scrape on one of the corners. Sent them a picture, no questions asked, i had a new one in front of my door in 3 days! Unreal customer service. More than 5 stars.
Nice print as described. Good addition to ny prints collection
Thought it was a little bigger. Should of went to the next size. But I still like it.
